PRP Microneedling
Candela Exceed + platelet-rich plasma
Microneedling plus your own plasma — your skin repairing itself, accelerated.
PRP microneedling takes everything microneedling does and adds a boost from your own body. We microneedle the skin, then deliver platelet-rich plasma — concentrated from a small sample of your blood — into the fresh micro-channels, so your own growth factors go to work exactly where the skin is repairing. It's a favorite for texture, tone, and an accelerated, natural-source glow.
- Downtime
- Redness for 24–48 hours
- Comfort
- Numbing cream; a light prickle, not pain
- Typical plan
- A short series, ~4 weeks apart
How PRP takes microneedling further
Microneedling opens micro-channels and triggers repair. PRP — platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood — is rich in the growth factors your body already uses to heal. Delivered into those open channels, it amplifies the collagen response and can speed how quickly results appear, without introducing anything foreign to your body.
Drawn and prepared in-office
It starts with a small, routine blood draw. We spin the sample in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, then apply that plasma during your microneedling session. Start to finish, the whole visit is straightforward and done in one appointment.
Who tends to choose it
PRP microneedling is a strong fit when you want more from each session — deeper work on texture, acne scarring, and dullness — and like the idea of using your own biology rather than an added product. Your provider will help you weigh it against standard microneedling at your consult.
What to expect
Before
- Hydrate well the day or two before — it makes the blood draw easier
- Avoid alcohol, and hold blood thinners like aspirin or ibuprofen for at least 24 hours if your provider approves
- Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids for a few days, and avoid sun exposure
During
- We draw a small sample of your blood and spin it to concentrate the platelets and growth factors
- A numbing cream keeps you comfortable while your provider microneedles the area with the Exceed device
- Your concentrated plasma is delivered into the fresh micro-channels
- Plan on roughly 45–60 minutes with the blood draw and prep included
After
- Redness and a warm, tight feel for 24–48 hours is normal
- Hold off on heat, saunas, and hard workouts for 48 hours
- Daily SPF, and pause retinoids and acids for about five days
- Results build over several weeks as your own growth factors do their work

Common questions
- What's the difference between microneedling and PRP microneedling?
- Both use the same micro-channeling. PRP microneedling adds platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood, delivering your body's own growth factors into those channels to accelerate repair — often chosen when you want more from each session.
- Is the blood draw a big deal?
- No — it's a small, routine draw similar to standard bloodwork, done in-office right before your treatment.
- Is PRP microneedling safe?
- Because the plasma comes from your own blood, there's no risk of an allergic or foreign-material reaction. Your provider reviews your history at consult to confirm it's right for you.
- How many sessions will I need?
- Like standard microneedling, a short series spaced about a month apart tends to give the best results. Your provider will map a plan to your skin at your consult.
- When do results appear?
- Expect early improvement within a week or so, continuing to build over the following weeks as collagen and growth-factor activity ramp up.
