How FoLix works

FoLix is a non-ablative fractional laser — it treats thousands of microscopic zones across the scalp without breaking or removing the skin's surface. Each precise pulse creates targeted micro-coagulation in the dermis, and your body's response to that signal is the treatment:

• Circulation. The healing response increases blood flow to the treated scalp — follicles are fed by that supply.
• Growth factors. The same response promotes growth-factor activity around the follicle — the body's own repair chemistry, no drugs or injections involved.
• Follicle stimulation. Dormant and miniaturizing follicles are pushed back toward their active growth phase, supporting new count and thickness.

The handpiece carries Lumenis's FoLiCool tip — continuous contact cooling that keeps the session comfortable and parts the hair as it moves, so the laser reaches scalp, not strands. No chemicals, no needles, no anesthesia, no downtime.

Who FoLix is for

Hair loss is far more common than the silence around it suggests — it affects roughly 50% of women and 85% of men, with real effects on self-esteem and quality of life. Most people wait years before treating it; those are years of follicles quietly shutting down.

FoLix is cleared for adult men and women with lighter-to-medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick types I–IV) who are treating hair loss. Where it shines is early- to mid-stage thinning — a widening part, a thinning crown, more scalp showing under bright light — while follicles are still alive to respond.

It isn't the right tool for every situation: fully bald areas with long-dead follicles won't respond to stimulation, and active scalp infections or certain chronic scalp conditions need to be resolved first. Your consult starts with an honest assessment of where your hair loss actually is — and if FoLix isn't the right answer for you, we'll say so.

What a session is like

A FoLix session takes about 30 minutes, start to finish. No numbing is needed — most patients describe the feeling as a warm prickling under the cooled tip. There's no downtime: you walk out and go back to your day immediately. Some patients notice mild redness or warmth in the scalp for a short while afterward.

Expect a series of 4–6 sessions spaced about four weeks apart, then 2–3 maintenance sessions a year to protect the gains. Early signs — less shedding in the drain, fine new baby hairs at the hairline and part — typically show up during the series itself, with measured improvement in count and thickness in the months after it finishes.
